Super Mom!

Mother- To give birth to; A woman in relation to her child or children.

MOM’S! WHEW! The word alone speaks for itself! To bear children is one of God’s greatest gifts, but hey let’s be real here it can be a bit overwhelming at times! From work life, all day runs, sporting events, grocery shopping, family matters, school functions, runny noses, and so much more it is enough to drive an everyday woman completely ragged! Yet, we hang in there while making it look so easy. We throw our hair back in a ponytail, slap on those sweat pants, roll up our sleeves, and do what every mom does best; Function. We work full-time jobs, we cook fabulous dinners, we help with homework, we keep clean homes, we do dirty laundry, we are comforters, we are supporters, we are teachers, we stay up all night with sick children and do it all over again the next day! Most of the time we don’t even hear the words “Thank You”, but we never complain. We push through and we seem to forget all about ourselves. There’s nothing wrong with taking out time to care for the tiny beings that we gave birth to, but if we aren’t in good physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health it will soon become impossible to balance it all. So here are 5 tips to help you get out of overdrive for a while and focus all on you!

  1.  Don’t be afraid to ask for a babysitter. We as moms sometimes put too much on ourselves. If there is someone in your life (mother, sister, aunt) who wouldn’t mind watching the kids for a while then ask them! It is okay!
  2. Stay Organized! Keep the kids on a schedule! I can’t express how important time management is! No matter what “Bed time” is bed time! No exceptions!
  3. Pamper yourself! Do a nice face exfoliation, light a candle, run a bath, listen to soft music, and add 20 drops of an organic essential oil (Lavender, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Peppermint, Tea Tree) to your bath water! This will make you feel so much more refreshed!
  4. Turn off devices! Read a chapter of a good book and drink some herbal tea (Green Tea, Apple Cinnamon). This will help your brain shut down from all the excitement of the day.
  5.  Spend time with Jesus! After all, He is the one who gave you those beautiful babies and the one who gives you the strength to do what you’re doing. Read your Bible or a nice devotional. Sing, pray, or cry if you need to. Whatever you may be feeling, whether good or bad, just turn it over to Him. Mommying is hard, but He will keep you in perfect peace!
